The group works at the Department of Biopharmacy in University of Kuopio and is lead by Dr. Arto Urtti.

We have studied the mechanisms of non-viral gene delivery. Our focus has been on the intra and extracellular proteoglygans as barriers for gene delivery. As another approach, we have studied new polymers and lipids as a carriers for gene delivery. Our targets in gene therapy are especially ocular tissues and the vascular wall.
